Anti-Aging Through Music – The Power of Musical Instruments to Affect the Brain and Mind

We introduce "Anti-Aging Classics Supervised by a Doctor of Medicine," a recommended music work from the healing label CROIX HEALING.

This work was planned with the aim of activating the brain and preventing mental and physical aging through music. It was produced with the cooperation of Dr. Hiroshi Bando, a doctor of medicine who is also a music therapist and specializes in anti-aging medicine.

It features 18 tracks based on classical masterpieces, primarily featuring the sounds of the cello and harp, with piano also incorporated.

The three instruments played in this work—cello, harp, and piano—each have different characteristics and stimulate the brain in different ways. Let's discuss these points.

● Cello: Its low register and deep sound pressure stimulate the left brain, affecting logical thinking and concentration.

● Harp: Its delicate high-pitched sounds stimulate the right brain, promoting emotional stability and relaxation.

● Piano: With its wide range of pitches and sound pressure, and the ability to adjust sounds through keystrokes, it can stimulate both the right and left brain in a balanced way, activating the entire brain.

The combination of these three instruments allows for simultaneous stimulation of various parts of the brain, leading to comprehensive anti-aging effects.

The piano, in particular, is an instrument capable of producing a wide variety of sounds, often described as a "one-instrument orchestra," from delicate to powerful.

On the other hand, the cello and harp possess irreplaceable charm through the characteristics of "open strings" and the effects of "overtones." The sounds produced by each instrument deeply affect the human brain and body through resonance.

Brain Resonance Created by Harmony – The Roles of Cello, Harp, and Piano

The brain is a collection of nerve cells floating in cerebrospinal fluid, and sound vibrations transmitted through the ear stimulate it at a cellular level.

The cello, harp, and piano each have unique acoustic properties, and their vibrations resonate with the brain in different ways.

Summary of Instrument Characteristics

Cello

Low notes act on the left brain, supporting logical thinking and concentration.

Harp

High notes act on the right brain, promoting stress reduction and mental stability.

Piano

Covers both extremes of the range, stimulating the entire brain in a balanced way.

To maximize these characteristics, the selection and composition of this work were carried out under the supervision of Dr. Hiroshi Bando. In addition to the harmony of the cello and harp, the piano plays a role in balancing the brain.

Furthermore, the piano possesses characteristics as a "percussion instrument" different from string instruments, with its timbre changing through delicate touches and powerful keystrokes. This flexibility makes the stimulation to the entire brain more three-dimensional and effective.

Rejuvenating Mind and Body with Music – Maximizing Anti-Aging Effects

"Music promotes the secretion of neurotransmitters like dopamine and endorphins in the brain, uplifting mood and alleviating stress.
This reduces oxidative stress in the brain and prevents cellular damage that causes aging."

~ From the supervisory text by Dr. Hiroshi Bando in the CD booklet of "Anti-Aging Classics Supervised by a Doctor of Medicine" ~

Music goes beyond mere entertainment; it profoundly affects our brain, body, and mind.

A youthful brain leads to a youthful mind, and further to a youthful body.

Musical resonance is transmitted to the brain not only through the ears but also through the entire body. In particular, the "open string" characteristic of the cello and harp causes the entire string to vibrate, sending sound waves to the cerebrospinal fluid and providing pleasant stimulation to the entire brain.

With the addition of the piano, the anti-aging effects of music are now even more promising.

Organizing thoughts with the cello's low notes, calming the mind with the harp's high notes, and activating the entire brain with the piano's wide range of pitches — this is the core concept of "Anti-Aging Classics."

We hope that by enjoying the diverse musical pieces in this work, you can refresh your brain in your daily life and maintain your youthfulness from within.
